It's important to know that due to its landlocked location, there are no beaches in Mexico City. But with a bit of planning, you can easily hop over to one of the nearby beaches on the coast!

Located on the Gulf of Mexico, Tecolutla is technically the nearest beach to Mexico City at about 200 miles (322 km) away, although it's not a developed resort town.

Acapulco is the largest resort town near Mexico City at about 235 miles (378 km) away. Tourists are welcome here but should be aware of growing safety concerns.

Costa Esmeralda (The Emerald Coast) in Veracruz is another off-the-beaten-path beach destination near Mexico City, with few tourists and beautiful ocean views.

Troncones is located on the Pacific Coast, about 393 miles (633 km) away from Mexico City. With only around 500 residents, it is a relatively undeveloped and uncrowded beach village.

Zihuatanejo (pronounced Zee-wah-tuh-nay-hoh) is a small fishing village located about 145 miles (234 km) north of Acapulco in the state of Guerrero.

Bahías de Huatulco (Bays of Huatulco) in the state of Oaxaca has nine beautiful bays and 37 gorgeous beaches. It's further away from Mexico City so it's easiest to take a flight.

Mazunte is located on the Pacific Coast in between Huatulco and Puerto Escondido. It is a tiny beach town and one of Mexico’s "Pueblos Magicos" (Magic Towns).

Puerto Escondido is an up-and-coming surf town on Mexico's Pacific Coast. It has a thriving nightlife scene and attracts a relatively young group of travelers.

Puerto Vallarta is one of Mexico’s largest beach towns and a bit more touristy, but it’s a quick, easy, and affordable flight from Mexico City and has a lot to offer visitors.

Located just north of Puerto Vallarta, Sayulita is a small surfing town with colorful streets and a bit of a party vibe.
