Hotel Volga Mexico City Review: Location
Location Rating: 5/5
Hotel Volga is located in the heart of Mexico City on a quiet street known as Río Volga in the Colonia Cuauhtémoc (Reforma) neighborhood. Honestly, its location can’t be beat!
Reforma is one of the most prestigious areas in Mexico City known for being a bustling business district with towering high-rise buildings, shopping, restaurants, and many different luxury hotels.
The hotel is just one block from Paseo de la Reforma (one of the main streets of Mexico City) and is within walking distance to the city’s major attractions such as the Angel of Independence Statue and Chapultepec Park.
I was also pleasantly surprised to find some very happening streets just a couple of blocks behind the hotel with many busy restaurants, bars, cafes, and taco stands. Even though it’s a business district, it’s still very busy both day and night!
Plus, as a solo female traveler, I felt completely safe and secure in the area. There were always a lot of people out and about and I never felt uncomfortable walking around alone.
And at just 7 miles away from the Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX), the hotel is relatively close to the airport. However, with Mexico City traffic, it may take around 45 minutes-1 hour to get there.
Overall, Hotel Volga has a prime location in the Reforma neighborhood with easy access to the city’s main attractions and many restaurants and bars nearby.
And it’s very easy to explore nearby neighborhoods such as the trendy Roma or Condesa, or you can easily request an Uber in Mexico City if you want to go further distances.

Hotel Volga Room Types
Hotel Volga offers luxury-level accommodations with three different room types to choose from:
- Deluxe Double Room: Deluxe accommodations with two double beds

- King Suite: A spacious suite with a king-sized bed, sitting area, marble bathroom with a soaking tub, and a private balcony

Deluxe King Room Review
I personally stayed in a Deluxe King room–this room is very sleek and modern with a plush king-sized bed, a black Turkish marble bathroom, a separate seating area with a small dining table, and the hotel’s signature “private viewing box” balcony.
Hotel Volga’s unique design concept extends to its guestrooms with premium finishes and the use of natural materials like stone, wood, and concrete–all complemented by stylish gold fixtures.
And while the rooms are made from more industrial materials, they strike a perfect balance between modern and cozy–and the minimalistic design adds to the hotel’s contemporary vibe.
The accommodations at Hotel Volga have all the amenities you’d expect from a luxury hotel such as crisp white down comforters, bath robes, and a rainfall shower. Plus, the plush Volga-branded slippers were a nice touch!
Beyond the basics, you’ll find plenty of additional amenities in your room, including a laptop-friendly safe, a complimentary mini-bar, an espresso machine, and a flat-screen TV.
And as a female traveler, I really appreciated the professional quality hair dryer in the bathroom–with all the attachments included!
That being said, the standard rooms do tend to be on the smaller side when compared to other luxury hotels in Mexico City.
So if you’re someone that prefers more space, then I would recommend upgrading to the King Suite for a bit more room.
I never felt cramped or uncomfortable in the Deluxe Room but it would have been nice to have a bit more counter space in the bathroom for getting ready.
Additionally, due to the hotel’s unique design, there isn’t a ton of natural light in the rooms but there’s built-in lighting, high ceilings, and mirrors to make up for it.
Also, while the rooms are built to be soundproof, some of the rooms closer to the atrium can still be a bit noisy from the restaurant and bar or any special events that might be happening.
But thankfully complimentary earplugs are provided so it wasn’t really an issue for me–I’m a light sleeper and still got a great night’s sleep!
Overall, the accommodations at Hotel Volga offer a chic and luxurious experience for travelers looking for something modern and stylish in Mexico City.
I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay and was really impressed with the quality of the room design and how seamlessly all the natural elements and modern amenities blended together.
Hotel Volga Mexico City Review: Restaurant
Restaurant Rating: 5/5
Elora Restaurant at Hotel Volga offers a gourmet dining experience in Mexico City that should not be missed!
As part of the Edo Kobayashi brand, Chef Juan Manuel González has crafted a menu full of flavors from the Mediterranean Basin, where simple preparation meets superior quality ingredients.
Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the restaurant is located in the lobby next to the hotel’s main stage and is designed to look like an “urban cenote” with cement walls and cascading foliage.
Complimentary breakfast at Elora restaurant is included in your stay at Hotel Volga. And be prepared to be blown away because this was one of the best breakfasts I had in Mexico City!
I ordered the French Toast and was not expecting the presentation to be so elegant and beautiful–and it tasted even better than it looked!
Overall, Elora was really impressive–the food was absolutely delicious, the presentation was superb, and the service was top-notch.
Compared to your average hotel restaurant, Elora truly delivers an elevated experience that can rival many of the best restaurants in Mexico City.
Hotel Volga Mexico City Review: Amenities
Amenities Rating: 4/5
Hotel Volga is dedicated to providing an immersive experience and offers many different amenities and activities for guests to enjoy.
For me, the highlight was the rooftop–this outdoor rooftop is a lush garden with a small concrete swimming pool and full-service bar, as well as plush lounge chairs and cabana beds.
The area is super chic and trendy–perfect for lounging on sunny days in Mexico City. They also do Rooftop Nights with a DJ and plan to host yoga, spinning, and TRX classes on the rooftop as well.
And while the emerald green color of the pool may seem a bit odd–it’s due to the type of concrete used and is still perfectly clean and swimmable!
Unfortunately, Hotel Volga does not have an on-site gym or spa, but they do offer complimentary fitness classes on the rooftop, as well as private massages that are available in your guestroom.
And what makes up for it is the hotel’s complimentary experiences for guests including cooking classes, mixology demonstrations, art exhibits, mariachi performances, curated playlists, and more.
In the stairways between the different levels of the hotel, you’ll find open spaces creatively designed to host these types of events. Plus, there’s a designer boutique, an art exhibit, and a small garden for guests to explore.
When I was there, I was got to enjoy an authentic mariachi performance from my own private viewing box–it was really memorable!
Overall, Hotel Volga does a fabulous job of providing guests with an immersive and unique experience in an upscale environment.
From rooftop pool days to mixology workshops, there’s a variety of fun and complimentary experiences for guests to enjoy. And I love how the entire hotel is designed to accommodate these types of experiences!
Hotel Volga Mexico City Review: Service
Service Rating: 5/5
The service at Hotel Volga was really exceptional and was a major contributor to my overall positive experience at the hotel!
Before I arrived, the Concierge arranged a private airport pickup for me in a luxury sedan so someone was waiting for me from the moment I stepped off the plane. My arrival was smooth and seamless!
And when I pulled up to the hotel, I was greeted by several members of the staff who quickly whisked me away to the hotel’s impressive lobby to complete the check-in process.
It was nice to do the check-in on the couches in the lobby while sipping on Hotel Volga’s signature welcome drink–a seriously-good mezcal cocktail!
And throughout my entire stay, every staff member I interacted with was extremely friendly, accommodating, and eager to help. And they all remembered me by name!
They were attentive and efficient and followed up on any of my requests via WhatsApp. The Concierge also helped me to secure dinner reservations at a nearby restaurant and even escorted me there!
Additionally, the wait staff at Elora restaurant were very attentive and remembered my exact food allergies even before I had to mention it.
Overall, the level of service at Hotel Volga was really exceptional. I felt really taken care of and the staff were friendly and down-to-earth.
And for travelers that don’t speak Spanish, most of the staff speak excellent English so you won’t need to worry about any kind of language barrier.
