Air Canada Inaugurates Direct Flights from Toronto to Tulum

The flight, operated by Air Canada, touched down in Tulum at approximately 2:30pm local time, originating from Toronto.

The arrival was met with celebration, highlighted by the presence of Quintana Roo’s Governor, Mara Lezama, who officiated the inaugural flight ceremony.

This new route is a significant step in boosting the local economy and tourism sector, enhancing the international connectivity of Quintana Roo.

Governor Lezama emphasized the importance of this new direct service, stating, “This connectivity will allow visitors to enjoy rural populations, learn about our cultural, historical, gastronomic and artisan wealth and represents a new alternative to experience, to live the New Era of the Mexican Caribbean,”

The initiative to establish direct flights to Tulum was described by Governor Lezama as a collaborative effort involving the government, Air Canada, and local stakeholders, all aiming to make Quintana Roo a globally appealing and accessible destination.

“We invite all travelers from Toronto and Canada to discover Tulum and the many treasures our state has to offer,” encouraged Governor Lezama during the welcoming event at the airport.

Air Canada’s introduction of direct flights from Toronto, and soon from Montreal, is anticipated to be a game-changer for tourism in Tulum, providing Canadian travelers with an easier and more efficient way to reach this vibrant destination.

Luis Noriega and Gunther Leudesdorf, Air Canada’s top representatives in Latin America and Mexico respectively, were present to witness the inaugural landing.

The airline has scheduled direct flights to Tulum from Toronto on Fridays and Sundays, and from Montreal on Saturdays.

These flights will be operated using an Airbus 320, featuring two classes of service and accommodating up to 168 passengers.

Tulum International Airport now has connections to numerous international destinations, including this newly added Canadian route, promising a significant uptick in tourist arrivals.

This expansion is not only expected to boost the local economy but also to enrich the cultural exchange between Canada and Mexico.

It’s now easier than ever for Canadian tourists to fly to Tulum, with this direct gateway to one of Mexico’s most up-and-coming destinations.
