Of all the spas in Playa del Carmen, the Cenote Spa at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort gets my vote for the best massage in Playa del Carmen!
I’ve had the 80-minute hot stone massage many times and it is always BEYOND luxurious and relaxing.
At the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Spa, youβll find eight modern treatment rooms, each with windows and patios facing an outdoor jungle landscape, as well as full bathrooms and showers.
In addition, ladies and mens locker rooms feature a steam room, sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. A sleek and modern outdoor lap pool is also included in the spa facilities.

The spaβs most unique feature is the Cenote Spa, which is an indoor heated pool enclosed under a domed cave-like ceiling with twinkling lights resembling a starry sky and surrounded by relaxation lounge chairs.
Modeled after the Yucatanβs peninsula sacred cenotes, the space is a relaxation sanctuary and considered to be a natural healing pool.
If you want to treat yourself, head to the Grand Hyatt for a full day of pampering, relaxation, and revitalization and you wonβt regret it!
Itβs basically become my personal relaxation haven in Playa del Carmen and in my opinion is worth every penny.

While Bric Spa doesnβt offer all the amenities, it provides great value, quality massages, and more personalized experiences.
Itβs a place where you can get a longer massage for much less money. I personally went to Bric Spa for a hot stone massage and it was a great experience!

Located at the Soul Beach Hotel, Soul Spa is best known for its hydrotherapy circuit, which is included in the massage services.
Iβve personally had a massage and did the hydrotherapy circuit at Soul Spa and it was such a unique experience!
The hydrotherapy circuit begins with a cold rain shower by pulling a cord attached to a bucket above your headβthink Flashdance style!
Then youβll continue through the circuit, switching between hot and cold pools, saunas, jetted jacuzzis, and various water streams.
Switching between hot and cold will definitely give you a rush! But overall itβs a totally rejuvenating experience.
The massage rooms at Soul Spa arenβt the most luxurious but the massages are decent and with the hydrotherapy circuit included, itβs a unique experience and great value for the money.
Best Outdoor Playa del Carmen Spa Experiences
These are the best outdoor spa experiences near Playa del Carmen:
9. Mayan Jungle Spa

If youβre intrigued by nature, one of the best outdoor massage experiences in Playa del Carmen is the Mayan Jungle Spa.
Located about 40 minutes north of Playa del Carmen in the middle of the Mayan jungle, this spa experience will completely immerse you in a lush open-air environment surrounded by bird songs and jungle noises.
The experience starts with a Temazcal, which is a native outdoor sweat lodge heated by hot stones.Β Youβll then receive a clay treatment and outdoor hot bath with a face and scalp massage.Β
The experience continues with a traditional Mayan massage for 1 hour and concludes with fresh fruit and a typical drink. This totally unique spa experience can be booked as a couples massage or with friends.
About Massages in Playa del Carmen
Here’s more info with some of the basics on massages in Playa del Carmen:
Where can you get a massage in Playa del Carmen?
As a popular vacation destination, Playa del Carmen offers a wide variety of massage experiences ranging from super cheap to ultra-luxurious.
The best spa experiences can be found at luxury Playa del Carmen hotels, which are typically open to outside guests even if youβre not staying at the hotel.
Many mid-range standalone Playa del Carmen massage spas also exist that offer quality services and will be much more affordable, however wonβt offer all the amenities and facilities that youβll find at the luxury spas.
In addition, youβll probably find the cheapest massages on Fifth Avenue or at one of the beaches in Playa del Carmen.
You pretty much wonβt be able to walk down Fifth Avenue without being asked for a massage (βmasajeβ in Spanish).
Can you get a massage on the beach in Playa del Carmen?
Yes! Playa del Carmen is one of the most visited beach destinations in Mexico and there is no shortage of massage places in Playa del Carmen on the beach where you can listen to the waves and feel the sea breeze.
Playa del Carmen beach massages often include makeshift tents or palapas setup on the beach.
The highest quality beach massage experiences can be found at the beachfront hotels and resorts, where youβll find more secluded massage treatments away from the public beachgoers.
However, you can still book many more affordable massages on the beach such as at INTI Beach and other Playa del Carmen beach clubs.
One caveat to keep in mind is that beach massages offer much less privacy when undressing, etc.

Can you get a couples massage in Playa del Carmen?
Playa del Carmen is also a popular honeymoon destination so there are definitely plenty of options for couples massages.
These can be done in a couples treatment room or on the beach for a more elevated and romantic experience.
The best place to reserve a Playa del Carmen couples massage is probably at one of the many incredible beach hotels in Playa del Carmen.

How much do massages cost in Playa del Carmen?
There are massage experiences in Playa del Carmen for every budget. And you will definitely get what you pay for!
On the cheap end, Playa del Carmen massage prices can range around $20-$30 USD for 1 hour.
At the luxury spas, you can expect to pay just as much as you would at a luxury spa in the United States. Massages and spa treatments typically start at around $100 USD and can be as much as $300+ USD.

Tips for Getting a Massage in Playa del Carmen
Follow these tips to make the most of your Playa del Carmen massage experience:
- Check the reviews: Everyone has their own comfort level when it comes to massages, so definitely check the reviews before booking to have the most positive experience.
- Ask for promotions and discounts: Most spas offer a local discount if you are a Playa del Carmen resident and can show your valid ID. In addition, there are often promotions and seasonal specials that could give you a discount on your treatment.
- Bring a swimsuit: The more luxurious spas usually have additional amenities such as a steam room, sauna, and wading pools.Β Bring a swimsuit if you want to stay longer to enjoy the amenities.Β
- Plan your massage for a rainy day: Check the weather forecast when youβre scheduling your massage and try to plan for a rainy or cloudy day. You probably wonβt want to waste a sunny day of your vacation at an indoor spa!
- Be mindful of sunburns: If youβre prone to sunburns, then itβs probably safer to schedule your massage at the beginning of your vacation just in case you end up getting a sunburn. A massage on sunburnt skin will not be enjoyable!
Conclusion: Playa del Carmen Massage Guide
So, what do you think, are you ready to get a massage in Playa del Carmen?
In my opinion, the best spa in Playa del Carmen is the Cenote Spa at the Grand Hyatt because it’s so peaceful and relaxing.
But if you’re looking for something a little more budget-friendly, then I would recommend Quinto Elemento or Bric Spa.
But no matter which of these Playa del Carmen spas you choose, you’re sure to have a relaxing experience!

π²π½ Traveling to Mexico soon?
These are the Mexico travel resources I use and recommend:
π¨ Hotels: I always find the best deals for Mexico hotels and resorts on Expedia or Booking.com. If you prefer a vacation rental, check VRBO as they are often cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!
βοΈ Flights: I recommend using Skyscanner for the best Mexico flight deals. Be sure to sign up for their price alerts for your preferred travel dates.
π Rental Cars: I recommend using Discover Cars because you can compare multiple car rental companies and see detailed ratings for overall value, ease of pick-up, efficiency of agents, car condition, and overall time spent.
π Cancun Airport Transportation: I recommend booking a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation for the quickest and most hassle-free option!
π€Ώ Tours & Activities: I always use Viator or GetYourGuide for booking tours and activities in Mexico. You can cancel up to 24 hours before the tour for a full refund, plus they have excellent customer service if you were to have any issues.
π¨ Travel Insurance: After my Dad broke his hand in a taxi accident in Playa del Carmen, I always recommend buying travel insurance before your trip for added peace of mind! I recommend Travel Insurance Master for short trips or Safety Wing for digital nomads.
βοΈ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Don’t forget to add biodegradable sunscreen to your Mexico packing list! Regular sunscreen is prohibited on most snorkeling tours, so you’ll need to pack some biodegradable sunscreen for sun protection. I recommend Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is reef-friendly, vegan, and cruelty-free.
