Of all the spas in Playa del Carmen, the Cenote Spa at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Resort gets my vote for the best massage in Playa del Carmen!

I’ve had the 80-minute hot stone massage many times and it is always BEYOND luxurious and relaxing.

At the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen Spa, you’ll find eight modern treatment rooms, each with windows and patios facing an outdoor jungle landscape, as well as full bathrooms and showers. 

In addition, ladies and mens locker rooms feature a steam room, sauna, and hot and cold plunge pools. A sleek and modern outdoor lap pool is also included in the spa facilities.

The spa’s most unique feature is the Cenote Spa, which is an indoor heated pool enclosed under a domed cave-like ceiling with twinkling lights resembling a starry sky and surrounded by relaxation lounge chairs. 

Modeled after the Yucatan’s peninsula sacred cenotes, the space is a relaxation sanctuary and considered to be a natural healing pool.

If you want to treat yourself, head to the Grand Hyatt for a full day of pampering, relaxation, and revitalization and you won’t regret it! 

It’s basically become my personal relaxation haven in Playa del Carmen and in my opinion is worth every penny.

Located at the Fives Downtown Hotel (A Hilton Curio Collection Hotel), the Fives Spa is a luxury retreat offering personalized massages, body treatments, and beauty services.

The spa is located on the hotel’s rooftop adjacent to the rooftop infinity pool and restaurant. 

The Fives Spa offers a variety of services including massages, facials, body scrubs, manicures, pedicures, and more.

I had a massage here and it was so relaxing with luxury touches like zen relaxation lounges, infused waters and teas, as well as relaxation baths and pools.

3. Revive Spa at Mahekal Beach Resort

Located at the luxurious Mahekal Beach Resort, Revive Spa features spa cabins set among lush tropical gardens.

The spa sanctuary offers several different massage therapies and is one of the only spas certified in Mayan massage techniques. 

Revive Spa delivers an elevated local experience as all of the spa products are made in Mexico and 100% organic, and even cultivates native plants used for aromatherapy and purification cleanses from the spa’s outdoor gardens. 

Indoor relaxation rooms treat guests to soothing music, aromatic scents, and welcome drinks.  For nature lovers, outdoor treatments can be booked in the spa’s new Bali beds or on the beach.

Here’s the best budget massage spas in Playa del Carmen that still offer great massage services but don’t have all the bells and whistles of the luxury spas. 

4. Bric Spa

Located on 38th street near the beach, Bric Spa is a local spa offering a variety of spa treatments at very affordable prices. 

Many unique massage experiences can be found on the spa menu such as a Bamboo Massage, Mayan Lime Healing Massage, Ancient Mayan Herbal Massage, and Healing Ocean Stone Massage to name a few. 

When visiting Bric Spa, don’t expect the usual spa amenities – the space feels more like being welcomed into someone’s home but is very clean and accommodating. The spa therapists are friendly, welcoming, and professional. 

While Bric Spa doesn’t offer all the amenities, it provides great value, quality massages, and more personalized experiences.

It’s a place where you can get a longer massage for much less money.  I personally went to Bric Spa for a hot stone massage and it was a great experience!

It’s a great mid-range spa where you’ll still find facilities like saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, and relaxation pools. 

Named after the sacred mangrove of the Yucatan peninsula, Okom Spa provides a total wellness experience with a unique selection of massages, body treatments, facials, and rituals accompanied by hydrotherapy spa.

All services include the use of hydrotherapy (sauna, steam room, sensation showers, and hydromassage pool).

The massage services at Okom Spa are probably not the absolute best massage Playa del Carmen has to offer but still provides good value and access to relaxing spa facilities.

And when you’re done with your spa treatment, you can head up to the Reef 28’s rooftop pool, which is one of the best rooftop pools in Playa del Carmen.

On the spa menu you’ll find unique treatments such as rose therapy for women, holistic massages, and a couples chocolate treatment. 

Quinto Elemento doesn’t have spa facilities but is affordable and offers some pretty amazing massages that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. 

The spa also offers a nail salon if you want to treat yourself to a manicure or pedicure.

7. GH Spa

GH Spa is a charming local spa and nail salon, offering a wide variety of spa treatments, facials, waxing, and bridal services.  Its friendly and welcoming staff will definitely leave you feeling pampered!

The prices at GH Spa are a little higher than the other budget Playa del Carmen spas, but the friendly staff, cleanliness, and level of service is probably the best I’ve experienced. It’s the only spa in Playa del Carmen with 5 star reviews!

8. Soul Spa

Located at the Soul Beach Hotel, Soul Spa is best known for its hydrotherapy circuit, which is included in the massage services.

I’ve personally had a massage and did the hydrotherapy circuit at Soul Spa and it was such a unique experience!

The hydrotherapy circuit begins with a cold rain shower by pulling a cord attached to a bucket above your head–think Flashdance style! 

Then you’ll continue through the circuit, switching between hot and cold pools, saunas, jetted jacuzzis, and various water streams. 

Switching between hot and cold will definitely give you a rush! But overall it’s a totally rejuvenating experience. 

The massage rooms at Soul Spa aren’t the most luxurious but the massages are decent and with the hydrotherapy circuit included, it’s a unique experience and great value for the money.

If you’re intrigued by nature, one of the best outdoor massage experiences in Playa del Carmen is the Mayan Jungle Spa. 

Located about 40 minutes north of Playa del Carmen in the middle of the Mayan jungle, this spa experience will completely immerse you in a lush open-air environment surrounded by bird songs and jungle noises. 

The experience starts with a Temazcal, which is a native outdoor sweat lodge heated by hot stones.  You’ll then receive a clay treatment and outdoor hot bath with a face and scalp massage. 

The experience continues with a traditional Mayan massage for 1 hour and concludes with fresh fruit and a typical drink. This totally unique spa experience can be booked as a couples massage or with friends.

As a popular vacation destination, Playa del Carmen offers a wide variety of massage experiences ranging from super cheap to ultra-luxurious. 

The best spa experiences can be found at luxury Playa del Carmen hotels, which are typically open to outside guests even if you’re not staying at the hotel. 

Many mid-range standalone Playa del Carmen massage spas also exist that offer quality services and will be much more affordable, however won’t offer all the amenities and facilities that you’ll find at the luxury spas. 

In addition, you’ll probably find the cheapest massages on Fifth Avenue or at one of the beaches in Playa del Carmen.

You pretty much won’t be able to walk down Fifth Avenue without being asked for a massage (“masaje” in Spanish). 

Can you get a massage on the beach in Playa del Carmen?

Yes! Playa del Carmen is one of the most visited beach destinations in Mexico and there is no shortage of massage places in Playa del Carmen on the beach where you can listen to the waves and feel the sea breeze. 

Playa del Carmen beach massages often include makeshift tents or palapas setup on the beach.

The highest quality beach massage experiences can be found at the beachfront hotels and resorts, where you’ll find more secluded massage treatments away from the public beachgoers.  

However, you can still book many more affordable massages on the beach such as at INTI Beach and other Playa del Carmen beach clubs.

One caveat to keep in mind is that beach massages offer much less privacy when undressing, etc.

There are massage experiences in Playa del Carmen for every budget.  And you will definitely get what you pay for!

On the cheap end, Playa del Carmen massage prices can range around $20-$30 USD for 1 hour.

At the luxury spas, you can expect to pay just as much as you would at a luxury spa in the United States.  Massages and spa treatments typically start at around $100 USD and can be as much as $300+ USD.

Tips for Getting a Massage in Playa del Carmen

Follow these tips to make the most of your Playa del Carmen massage experience: 

  • Check the reviews: Everyone has their own comfort level when it comes to massages, so definitely check the reviews before booking to have the most positive experience.
