Best Beachfront Restaurants in Playa del Carmen
Here are the best beachfront restaurants Playa del Carmen has to offer:
1. Zenzi Beach

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 7:30AMβ1AM
- π² Price Range: $$
Zenzi Beach is a popular Playa del Carmen beachfront restaurant that offers Mexican cuisine, American dining, and live music in the evenings.
Located right off of Fifth Avenue on Calle 10, itβs one of the most well-known hangout spots, especially for locals.
You can choose to sit at a table on the shaded deck or grab a table on the beach to dine with your toes in the sand.
And if a table isnβt your thing, thereβs also a long bar with a few TV screens that often play popular sporting events. Itβs also a great spot for Sunday NFL games, with live music on the beach and games on the bar TVs.
Zenzi is also ranked as one of the best bars in Playa del Carmen, with ocean views, tasty cocktails, and salsa dancing lessons some nights of the week.
The staff is attentive, although it can get jam-packed sometimes, slowing service down. But the food and good ambiance is always worth the wait.
On the menu youβll find Mexican and American food like ceviche, mahi mahi, fajitas, and burgers. They also offer a wide variety of cocktails and beverages.
The food is decent, not spectacular, but the fun and lively atmosphere is what makes Zenzi worth visiting.
2. The Grill at Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Sunday through Thursday 1PMβ4PM and 6PMβ10PM, Friday 1PMβ4PM and 7:45PM with reservations, Saturday 8:30PMβ12:00AM
- π² Price Range: $$$
The Grill at 1 26 at the Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen is a trendy fine-dining restaurant at one of the best hotels in Playa del Carmen.
It offers a different type of atmosphere than other popular beach clubs that are more casual and beachy and you donβt have to be a hotel guest to dine there.
The Grill is more upscale, with elegant decor, large windows facing the ocean, and high-end menu items from a top-tier chef.
This restaurant is located on First Avenue, parallel to Quinta Avenida, closer to the beach, and on Calle 26. Itβs at the heart of downtown Playa del Carmen, so easy to get to from anywhere.
Because of the nice ambiance and great food, itβs one of the best restaurants in Playa del Carmen and a great place to spend a special occasion or just relax out of the sun, with great views.
Walking into the restaurant, youβll be greeted with elegant soft lighting, various seating options, and large windows.
The menu includes fresh seafood, sushi, burgers, salads, and tasty meat dishes. And donβt forget the specialty cocktailsβI love the Pink Shrub!
3. Lido Beach Club

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 8AMβ11PM
- π² Price Range: $$
Lido Beach Club is another beach club that rivals the popular Zenzi Beach Club. This is one of the best Playa del Carmen beach restaurants with seating on the sand and umbrellas available to rent for the day.
Itβs a trendy spot popular among expats and tourists because of its great atmosphere, friendly service, live music, and varied menu.
The beach area at Lido is pretty small so I would recommend sitting at a table there rather than the beach beds.
The atmosphere is super cute and youβll be greeted by string lights, a fresh coconut cart, and hearts hanging from the trees. They also have a bar area with wooden swings.
Lido is open for all day dining and they have some great Mexican and American dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with excellent presentation.
Travelista Tip: Lido Beach Club is also one of my favorite breakfast restaurants in Playa del Carmen. If youβre an early bird, get there right when they open to have the place to yourself and a quiet beachfront.
4. INTI Beach

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 9AMβ12AM
- π² Price Range: $$
INTI Beach is one of my favorite restaurants and beach clubs in Playa del Carmen. It’s located one block down from 5th Avenue, between Calle 4 and Calle 6.
INTI is known for being a bit more upscale with good food and ambiance, especially for a beach club.
The restaurant itself has a boho chic vibe, with tiered seating inside and outside facing the beach.
The food is also delicious. They specialize in fresh seafood, including ceviche and tuna tiradito. All the ingredients, from the seafood to the vegetables to the meat, are fresh.
INTI also allows guests to use the beach chairs as long as food or drinks are ordered. Most beach clubs require a payment or fee to use some facilities. But with INTI, you get free range if you enjoy some menu items.
If youβre looking for an open-air restaurant on the beach with delicious food, great service, and an unbeatable view of the Caribbean Sea, this is the perfect place. Itβs a local favorite and is always popular with tourists.
5. Fuego Restaurante y Cantina at Mahekal Beach Resort

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 7AMβ11AM, 12PMβ5PM, 7PMβ10PM with reservations
- π² Price Range: $$$
Fuego Restaurante y Cantina is a high-class restaurant at Mahekal Beach Resort, which is one of the best beachfront hotels in Playa del Carmen, on the trendy 38th Street.
Although Fuego is within Mahekal Beach Resort, you can still dine here even if youβre not a hotel guest. Youβll just need to alert security when you arrive and leave your ID at the front desk.
And despite this little extra step, the Fuego experience is definitely worth it.
The restaurant is open-air, on the beach, with incredible views. Itβs Tulum-inspired, complete with a Tulum-style wood-burning oven. Actually, every dish is prepared over an open flame in the wood-burning oven.
The menu changes frequently but usually offers a blend of Mexican, American, and other international flavors. Thereβs a heavy presence of Mexican culture on the menu, but with many ingredients.
Almost all ingredients are βfarm-to-tableβ from local farms in Tulum and around Playa del Carmen, making the food taste better.
The restaurant offers an βAll Inclusive Experience,β where you can enjoy a fresh buffet-style meal anytime. While some buffets arenβt appetizing, Fuego keeps everything fresh and rotating and has a large variety.
Perhaps one of my favorite things about Fuego is the fresh juices and fruit bar. You can craft your fresh fruit juices with fruit that meets your preferences and pleases your taste buds.
6. Piaggia Restaurant

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 8AMβ12AM
- π² Price Range: $$
Piaggia Restaurant is a relatively new beachfront restaurant in Playa del Carmen offering Mediterranean and Italian cuisine.
Very few people know about it, yet itβs right on the water and offers a great view on the second level overlooking the ocean.
Located between Mahekal Beach Resort and Coco Beach, it’s a bit further away but still easily accessible.
With large oceanfront windows showcasing the Caribbean Sea, the classy decor sets the mood and the live music adds a relaxing touch.
The menu features fresh-made pastas and a variety of dishes for everyone. Popular options include pizzas, pasta plates, and lobster dishes.
Breakfast options are also available. Regardless of when you visit, it’s the perfect spot for mouthwatering food with a view.
7. C-Grill at Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen Beach House

- π Location: Google Maps
- π Hours: Daily from 7AMβ11PM
- π² Price Range: $$$
C-Grill is an open-air, contemporary restaurant at Hyatt Centric Playa del Carmen Beach House (formerly The Thompson Beach House) right off 5th Avenue.
The restaurant isnβt as well-known as some of the best seafood restaurants in Playa del Carmen, but it still has a great seafood selection.
The restaurant sources local ingredients, including fresh fish caught that morning and fruit and vegetables from nearby farmers.
The views are incredible, as well. The restaurant’s interior is simple, but it has large open walls allowing the breeze to come through and the sound of lapping waves to soothe you during your meal.
No matter where you are in the restaurant, youβll have a view of the swaying palm trees, the Caribbean Sea, and some of the best scenery in the bustling beach town.
One C-Grill specialty is octopus, which is served in many different ways. Some prefer it served whole as a grilled octopus main course or octopus toast. The restaurant also offers a fresh catch of the day with esquites and bone marrow.
Between the exceptional service, the local and international dishes on the English menu, and unbeatable views, you likely wonβt be disappointed with C-Grill.

π²π½ Traveling to Mexico soon?
These are the Mexico travel resources I use and recommend:
π¨ Hotels: I always find the best deals for Mexico hotels and resorts on Expedia or Booking.com. If you prefer a vacation rental, check VRBO as they are often cheaper than AirBnB’s added fees!
βοΈ Flights: I recommend using Skyscanner for the best Mexico flight deals. Be sure to sign up for their price alerts for your preferred travel dates.
π Rental Cars: I recommend using Discover Cars because you can compare multiple car rental companies and see detailed ratings for overall value, ease of pick-up, efficiency of agents, car condition, and overall time spent.
π Cancun Airport Transportation: I recommend booking a private transfer with Cancun Airport Transportation for the quickest and most hassle-free option!
π€Ώ Tours & Activities: I always use Viator or GetYourGuide for booking tours and activities in Mexico. You can cancel up to 24 hours before the tour for a full refund, plus they have excellent customer service if you were to have any issues.
π¨ Travel Insurance: After my Dad broke his hand in a taxi accident in Playa del Carmen, I always recommend buying travel insurance before your trip for added peace of mind! I recommend Travel Insurance Master for short trips or Safety Wing for digital nomads.
βοΈ Biodegradable Sunscreen: Don’t forget to add biodegradable sunscreen to your Mexico packing list! Regular sunscreen is prohibited on most snorkeling tours, so you’ll need to pack some biodegradable sunscreen for sun protection. I recommend Sun Bum Sunscreen, which is reef-friendly, vegan, and cruelty-free.
